SSH Port Forwarding HowTo Needed

Postby sonoracomm » Mon Jan 05, 2015 10:47 am

Hi,

I'm extremely new to mRemoteNG, sorry, and I have only a passing familiarity with PuTTY.

I'm testing mRemoteNG for our use for remote support.

We're converting from Linux to Windows after 10 years (don't ask) and I'm struggling to find a replacement for Remmina and Gnome Terminal (not that I was in love with Remmina).

One technique I use often is SSH port forwarding (tunneling). I'm accustomed to using the CLI something like:

Code: Select all
ssh -l admin  -L <local_port>:<target_host>:<remote_port> <remote_host>

Is there any documentation or can someone explain to me how to do port forwarding with SSH?

Thanks in advance,

G

I figured out how to do this.

1) create an SSH connection and connect
2) right-click on the connection tab above the remote SSH display and choose "PuTTY Settings"
3) adjust the SSH tunnel settings in Connection -> SSH -> Tunnel
4) save the settings giving a useful name
5) assign the settings you just saved to the mRemoteNG connection under Protocol -> PuTTY Session
6) disconnect and reconnect to test the forwarded ports
