[REDMINE ISSUE 32] How to get SFTP explorer-like support.

Postby altsysrq » Sat Feb 20, 2010 11:33 pm

One of the the things that I find handy is to be able to browse via sftp on my ssh hosts. This is convenient for transferring files, or viewing and editing something quickly.

MRemoteNG has the advantage of storing connections efficiently. Hmmm, now if only MRemoteNG had an SFTP browser, . . . ;)

With a little help you can.

1. Install Filezilla.
2. Setup an external application with the following specifications:
Filename: "C:\Program Files (x86)\FileZilla FTP Client\filezilla.exe" (on 32 bit systems take out the (x86)
Arguments: sftp://%username%:%password%@%hostname%
3. Check 'Try to integrate' if you wish.

Have fun!

I prefer to use portable WinSCP. I simply drop the binaries in the tools folder under mRemoteNG and use the following settings:

Filename: tools\WinSCP.exe
Arguments: sftp://%Username%@%HostName%:%Password%

Both Filezilla and WinSCP support Pageant.

Try to integrate does not work however...

I tried this and it is acting as if the variables are not getting resolved. Am I missing something?

Don't check "try to integrate". For some reason it breaks the use of command line env vars.

I tried unchecking "try to integrate." I still have the same problem. In any case, this really not an option for me because, I like the idea of integrating the tool. I am using build 1.63.

Hi t3knoid,

Unfortunately manonstreet arguments have password out of order, correct ones are: sftp://%username%:%password%@%hostname% as posted by altsysrq at beginning of thread.
Hope this helps.

I'm a newbie to Visual Studio / Visual Basic and can't quite unravel the code to get it working properly.

Parameter expansion is only done for non-integrated external apps, alas.

This is my number one "must fix" bug, as it really limits the use of this tool.

I've filed a bug:

I've built 1.63 with only my changes and it works properly for me. I can't get integrated apps to work with the latest version on github, but I'm happy to wait till the next release.
