[REDMINE ISSUE 16] Support for XULRunner 2.x

Postby onslo » Tue Feb 01, 2011 9:52 am

Thank you very much for keeping this great app alive.

XULRunner 1.8.1.3 is extremely old and Gecko 2.x is nearing RC state.

It would be great if mRemote could get XULRunner 2.x support. The XULRunner 2.x nightlies are available from here: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/ ... est-trunk/

Thanks

This is something on radar. XULRunner 1.8.1.3 was the version used when mRemote originally developed as well the library it uses, miniGecko. It lacks a few features like proxy settings. I believe the only active .net control usable as a replacement is GeckoFX. It is something that will be updated eventually. Personally, I'd like to see this packaged in a more user friendly fashion like have mRemoteNG offer to download the latest version and install it.

Thanks, thrilleratplay.

Seeing as GeckoFX supports only 1.9.1.x, and its development looks glacial, I suppose it will take a while. :(

just for me to know, so i don't waste any more time: https is not working with firefox/xulrunner, or? i tried it now for several hours, read a lot of postings, but i'm still not sure, if it should work or not.

But by the way, i'm working now since half a year with mremoteng, and it's a real cool program. Save's a lot of work and makes it a lot more well-aranged.

I haven't really looked at any of the XULRunner stuff yet. I think it will take quite a bit of work to get mRemoteNG to work with the current version of XULRunner. All of the browser integration features need a lot of polishing. We really need more developers to work on all of this stuff.
