[REDMINE ISSUE 38] RDP session list and connect and manage.

Postby RudyD » Fri Mar 04, 2011 10:00 am

Greetings!

First of all - Best wishes to go further with mremote! Really - best wishes for keeping up.

There is a minor thing I always missed from it. A similar feature which can be accessed by installing the admin pack for the os and there is a remote desktop admin tool in it.

Something you can list the connected sessions (mainly RDP) on a remote win machine. Probably you can join to a specific session or choose one or a new empty one to connect to. (To being able to kick off or send message to a session are really secondary but I hope not that hard wishes. )

So - something that lists the connections similar way. (p.e. from the right click menu) and adds a 'screen' to the panel. (p.e. "sessions of 'xy-server' "

This would be benefical not to kick off fellow collegues with my connection to the same session. Or connect to an appropriate session easily (probably with another username).
And keep up the good work, esp. with portable versions!

TIA!

At my last position, this functionality was sought after in general and not as a feature on mRemote. The way it was handled was through a digital checkout page. I though this was a weak solution but could not find the functionality in the RDP that indicates a session is already in progress without interrupting it. With the new version of RDP, this may now be possible but I assure was a pain point for me as well and would love to be able to add this function in.

Greetings,

There should be a solution. There is also a view -> sessions panel in mremoteng. But it lacks useful information and can not control (or shadow for some unmentioned but not yet wanted badly extra. B-) ) a session.

You can find several pictures on the web about tsadmin.msc -

It can be installed with the "Remote Server Administration Tools" pack.

Probably this picture shows mostly what would I suggest:

The couse - It would be nice not to hijack each other sessions on a server.
Other almost same - to investigate if a user logged back on a remote workstation networked computer. So if he\she started some very-important-most-urgent stuff not to kick off and kill (possibly corrupt data) the several programs started there.

These two would be the most important reason. So It seems to me that it is not necessary to catch a session on the remote computer.
(Even if needed indeed - the above util does that somehow securely. ?)

Hmmmm. I will look into seeing if this can be integrated as an option. I would be nice to dim and deactivate connections in use and maybe add an addition of a username to the title to indicate who is using it.
