Feature Request : Multiple Command Sender

Postby DVT_Sogh » Thu Sep 29, 2011 6:39 am

Hi,

The feature I would like to see in mRemoteNG is the ability to send commands to multiple connections simultaneously as in PuTTYcm with MCS (Multi Command Sender)

I don't know what is the best place to put this functionality, in a toolbar or in each panel.

Sincerely,

Hello!

This feature is a really must have! I would use it for SSH connections

So +1 for me too for the following reasons :

PuttyCM is not develloped anymore.
PuttyCS doesn't work with PuttyTabManager.

The only software for SSH I know having "tabs" + "multiple command" is xshell.. but it's not open source and doesn't support GSSAPI Auth!

I also vote for this feature!

I am a new user, just downloaded the code (1.69) and have started to play with it. It would be nice to see how this was implemented in PuTTYcm, anybody know where I can get the source code? I can't get to the PuTTYcm site...

To properly implement this we will have to wait until we have found/developed a replacement for PuTTY. We need a real COM or .NET control instead of tricking PuTTY to run inside of mRemoteNG.

but but but - there isnt a Windows API way to read a window title, if window title matches, then spew text into it auto-manually? (yes new word) I'm thinking however the "On-Screen Keyboard" in Windows works...

Possibly. The way things work with PuTTY right now, it could get messy. It's a good idea. I'll keep it in mind and maybe try some things out.

To rmcardle :

Thank you for taking in care this feature request!

About putty changes : please take in account that putty is one of the only free ssh client that can deal with Kerberos GSSAPI ;) If you change it for another client it can cause troubles for people like me who use this functionnality.

My quest is to find a free client that can have those functionnalities :

- multi tab -> mremote NG can do this
- GSSAPI -> mremote NG can do this with putty
- Multi command -> mremote NG can't do this yet.

If I lost GSSAPI, I won't use mremoteNG.

Thank you for your past and future work on mremoteng!

I wasn't aware of GSSAPI. I've been trying to find a way to better integrate PuTTY by modifying it to add hooks for mRemoteNG.

@rmcardle

What about integrating KiTTY instead of PuTTY?

Since PuTTY is not reactive at all, and KiTTY quite active, maybe it could be easier to deal with these developpers and find a way to re-use KiTTY configuration or run it when starting KiTTY sessions from mRemoteNG.

Basically, I'm running KiTTY with mRemoteNG but can't load its sessions. This could be a solution since KiTTY session's handle perfectly remote commands.

Cheers,
Olivier.
