Where I can download the latest source code? On github I was only able to find the 1.69 version.

The latest source code is in the develop branch, there is a drop down on GitHub to select the branch.

You would have to do a pull request on a branch named something that would identify what you've been doing. Then owner would look at it, and then decide if they want to merge it in. I forget how to do that exactly but if you check out http://www.git-scm.com there will be some good instruction on how to do those kinds of things.
